Project Overview:
This EU-funded project was commissioned by UCLG-MEWA to assess municipal contributions to UN Sustainable Development Goals. I have developed and implemented novel statistical methodology to analyze SDG alignment patterns of 2,223 municipal projects across 15 Turkish municipalities. I applied Bayesian Thurstonian Item Response Theory to quantify primary and secondary SDG contributions of each project, creating a comprehensive measurement and visualization framework for assessing local government contributions to UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Impact:
• First systematic quantification of municipal SDG alignment in Turkey
• Methodology adopted by UCLG-MEWA for regional assessments
• Created evidence-based decision support tools for policy makers
Project Presentation & Dissemination:
Results were presented at the project's closing meeting hosted by the World Academy for Local Government and Democracy (WALD). The event brought together local governments from the project's implementation area, central government representatives, civil society organizations, and numerous representatives from Europe, the Middle East, and West Asia Region.Â
